City Rescue Mission of New Castle PA

Feeding the hungry...Sheltering the homeless...Offering hope

Dear Friends:

Thanks for visiting us to learn more about VBS to the RESCUE.  What is VBS to the RESCUE you ask...it is a community outreach program where staff missionaries visit your Bible School or other children's programming to share about the life changing work that God is accomplishing here at the City Rescue Mission.

Here is how it works...

Bible Schools choose the City Rescue Mission as their "mission project" for their week of Bible School or other children's programming.  This usually involves a collection of a monetary offering to be shared in whole or part with the City Rescue Mission.  If you allow us, a member of our Rescue Patrol can visit your Bible School to share, in a kid-friendly way, about the essential services provided at the Mission.

Chrisitan Education or Vacation Bible School Directors can download a Registration Form, additional information about how the program works, and helpful promotion tools from the Director's Download Page or by clicking here.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about VBS to the RESCUE:

Must our church have a Bible School to participate in VBS to the RESCUE?  No, the Rescue Patrol is willing to visit your church at any time.  A mission project involving the City Rescue Mission would be perfect for your Sunday School, Youth Group or other children's program at any time of the year.  Call Mary Lee Green at 724-652-4321 ext. 107 to learn more.

Why does the City Rescue Mission request a financial offering?  During the summer as most people are vacationing, our donations drop significantly but the need for our services does not.  This is an especially critical time when any financial donation is gratefully appreciated.

Our children don't understand money, can't we donate something else such as non-perishable food or other items?  Contrary to what you might think, children do understand money and the good it can do.  We have visited many Bible Schools and have shared about the specific assistance that their money helps us provide to their neighbors in need.  In our Director's Kit, we give you ideas on how you can help the children "visualize" how their offering provides help.  While donations of food, or other items, are always appreciated we do have special times during the year that we have drives for specific items so we ask that the Bible School offering be financial in nature.  If your Bible School is not able to collect a monetary offering but still wants to participate, please call Mary Lee Green at 724-652-4321 to discuss alternate projects.

May God richly bless you in your efforts to share the Gospel with children.!
