Dear Friends and Partners In Hope,

Here in America, we celebrate and commemorate the freedom afforded to us in this great nation.  Every day, here at the City Rescue Mission, we also celebrate the freedom of our souls -- and the glorious liberation we experience when we surrender our lives to Christ!

But for many of the men and women who come through our doors, "freedom in Christ" is a concept that is difficult to comprehend.  After all, how can we gain independence by giving control of our lives to the Lord?  Yet once they learn of God's love, grace and forgiveness -- through our programs of Christian education, recovery and guidance -- they begin to understand this infallible truth!

In 2 Corinthians, Paul tells us where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  When we open our hearts to Him, He releases us from the bondage of addiction, immorality, anger and selfishness.  He dispels useless feelings of worry, anxiety, fear and despair.  And we find the freedom to walk in faith, speak the truth and build new lives in Christ.

My fellow workers in Christ, your gifts allow the City Rescue Mission to share Paul's message of hope with hundreds of hurting people each year.  And as I watch them break free of the sins that have held them helpless for so long -- and embrace the freedom in Christ that transforms lives--I honor your loving and generous hearts all through the year.
