Walter* was once a man who would stoop down in any weather and pick up the penny. Foolish choices as a young man robbed him of his health, his job, and his family. For years he lived day to day, coming to the Mission when he got hungry or cold. Walter would keep the penny because he had little else of value remaining in his life.

Then one day Walter heard that God loved him and wanted to forgive him. Walter believed it and by faith received forgiveness. His life began to change, he started serving at the Mission and smiling at people. One day he prayed aloud in our chapel service and everyone knew something miraculous had happened.

Walter works in our maintenance area now. He still might stoop down to pick up a penny, because he knows that even the lowly penny has worth, especially when combined with others. Just like him and the others served here at the Mission. While he may be just a man, he now knows that his value to God is priceless.
